Information Update for Parents and Carers ~ COVID-19

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are emailing to clarify the very strict procedures that all schools currently have to adhere to and follow.

All of the COVID-19 guidelines that schools are following, have been written by the Government and by Public Health England and have been specifically designed to keep the school community as safe as possible.

We are adhering to these strict guidelines alongside our very comprehensive and rigorous risk assessment.

The guidelines are as follows:

If a child or adult in a school presents with any of these symptoms –

  • a high temperature – this means the person feels hot to touch on their chest or back
  • a NEW, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • a loss or change to sense of smell or taste – this means a person has noticed they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste differently than normal

then it COULD be a case of COVID-19. The only way to know for sure is to be tested.

A test must be booked via the NHS website or by phoning 119.

School informs Public Health England that an adult or child has presented with one or more of the above symptoms.

The whole household must self isolate for 14 days pending the result of the test.

School must be informed of the test result.

Thank you for your understanding and support,

The St George’s School Team
