We wanted to offer hot food to the children at lunchtime, but we also had to think about safety, practicalities and the classroom environment. At the moment, the children have to eat their lunch either in their classroom or outside. The teachers then have to clean the classrooms ready for the afternoon lessons.
We wanted to offer something that the children would LOVE and would EAT, but that could also be delivered to and eaten in class. The meals have been carefully designed so that they are well balanced in terms of protein, carbohydrates and essential fats and yet contain all of the elements that children enjoy eating.
Remember, children in early years, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to a FREE school meal every day. For older children, meals cost £2.30 per day although may be entitled to a free school meal; please contact the office for more information on checking this.
Free School Meals
Depending on your circumstances your child may be entitled to Free School Meals and other educational benefits. Even if you do not wish your child to have a free school meal on a regular basis, or if they are also entitled to a free KS1 meal, we still ask that you apply for free school meals. If eligible, your child’s school may also receive additional funding called the Pupil Premium. The Pupil Premium will benefit your child’s school as additional funding, and will also enable your child to take up a free school meal any day they choose.
