How will St George’s track the progress of my child?

Assessment takes place throughout the term using a broad range of methods from observation, marking and feedback, discussion and independent work to diagnostic tests and the involvement from outside agencies. The school uses the PIVATS tracker for all children with SEN to assess their progress against National expectations. However we strive to ensure this is not a stressful process for the children and we make children aware that the purpose of assessment is to identify the next steps in their learning. Alongside this we use the SPAR spelling tests and SALFORD reading tests to closely monitor progress.
