DSCF5164Meet the team:

We are dedicated to working together in a safe and fun environment, where all children may acheive their full potential.  Miss Birkinshaw is our class teacher and Miss Sirr is our assistant teacher.  Computer Kat has been helping us in our computing lessons in the first half of the Autumn term, and we are lucky enough to have Miss Grey working with us too for much of this year!

R.E. is our most important subject and is at the core of our curriculum. We do 2 hours of RE every week, a child led liturgy every Friday and four other sessions of collective worship including Mass or celebration every Thursday. Please look at the RE dates to see the dates of Mass and celebration for the terms. St Francis of Assisi is the Patron Saint of year 2 and we celebrate his feast day on the 4th October.

English & Maths

In Year Two we have a daily English lesson and we read every day - so your child always needs to bring their book bag and reading record.  The children are encouraged to use their best handwriting at ALL times and to practise every day! In our Maths lessons we continue to develop our skills in calculating and problem solving using all four operations.  In the first half term we have used the laptops to help us  consolidate our understanding of place value and to parctise our number bonds and times tables.

P.E. takes place every Monday and Friday afternoon with our specialst sports coaches, Mr Gallagher and Mr Laverick. Please ensure that your child has a full and appropriate kit each week as without this, they will not be able to participate in the lesson. Full kit should include trainers for outdoor use and blue or black shorts/ tracksuit bottoms.

Topic and Rotation

Every Wednesday afternoon we will be joining forces with Year 1 and taking part in small, group projects involving many different subject areas such as Cookery, Design Technology and  History.

In Science, we are learning all about the Human Life Cycle and Health and Nutrition.
