We are very proud to announce that Imogen Fewster, one of our year 6 pupils, has won a national writing prize in a historical fiction writing competition run by the Historical Association. Her short story, Julia’s Flight, is set in ancient Rome and recounts the dramatic events surrounding the arrival of Julia’s new, and less than kind, step-mother, Avita Procola:

‘Avita, her new mother, had swept through the door like an empress in her palace. She was beautiful! Friendly was another matter. Avita had raven-black hair piled on her head in the latest style, and her skin was like snow, as pale as the natives of Britannia.’
